Attention seeking?
American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell did lunch at the Ivy on LA’s paparazzi-infested Robertson Boulevard Sunday.
Where were they headed to next?
Mani/Pedis?

Reacting as he usually does, Simon Cowell spoke to TV’s Extra about Clay Aiken’s People magazine cover, proclaiming publicly for the first time that he’s a gay man.
Says Simon, “Wow, that’s a shock. It’s like being told Santa Clause isn’t real - unbelievable.“
Wait a minute.
Santa Clause isn’t real??????
Putting his delicious nastiness aside, Cowell added, “Good for him. If he said it, it’s the right thing for him. Good for him.”
What advice does Simon have for the Gayken???
“Make a good record,” says Cowell. “He’s got a good voice…He’s on the front cover of People. He’s still popular.”
Gosh, Simon does have a heart! A teensy-tiny little itty-bitty one, because when asked if Clay asked him to be Parker’s godfather, he replied, “I think I’d be the last person on Earth he’d call.”
Oh Simon!
Identifying with Aiken’s situation, Lance Bass was totally congratulatory. “I think it’s amazing,” says the former ‘Nsync-er. ” He’s probably heard it all before… He’s just going to be living his life like he wants to. Everyone’s going to be very supportive and he’s going to be the happiest he’s ever been.”
But will it hurt his female fan base?
Lance was reassuring.
“I swear, when I came out, I had more female fans.”
Good times!

We’d been wondering what was gonna happen in this scenario and, finally…
Paula Abdul revealed on the Johnjay & Rich radio show Wednesday morning that in the case of a tie, Simon Cowell would have the deciding vote on American Idol.
This season, the show has added a fourth judge, Kaka DioGuardi.
So if the judges are split 2 to 2 - Cowell’s vote will determine whether or not a contestant will make it through or not!
Paula also revealed that thus far, all the people auditioning have sucked.
Way to hype up the coming season!
Listen to Abdul’s interview (below).

It’s cursed!
American Idol has had more failures in its history than success stories.
For every Carrie Underwood there’s three [fill in the blank]!
Former Idol alum Blake Lewis, who came in the top two of the show, is joining the list of post A.I. losers.
Through a MySpace bulletin to his “friends”, Lewis says he is “sorry to inform you guys on some bad news.”
His tour has been cut short, apparently due to his management and record label, as he claims to be in the process of finding both new management and a new label.
Poor guy!
He apologizes to his fans and everyone who bought tickets.
He was on tour?
And people bought tickets for it????? Ha!

American Idol winner and VMA rebel rouser Jordin “not everybody — guy or girl — wants to be a slut” Sparks told EW that she stands by the comment she made at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, though she wishes she could’ve reworded it a bit:
“It’s something I feel strongly about. I wish I would’ve worded it differently — that somebody who doesn’t wear a promise ring isn’t necessarily a slut — but I can’t take it back now. It was a split-second thing, and it came out kind of wrong. Still, I don’t regret it.”
When she was asked how she felt about the purity-bashing VMA host, Russell Brand, the Idol said, “I have nothing against him at all.”
Between the Jonai, Jordan, and Miley, young Hollywood’s beginning to look like church camp.
And Slutty Cyrus is Mary Magdalene!

Posted by as American Idol, Exclusives!, Paula Abdul, Personally Perez

So, we just got off the phone with Paula Abdul and she had a lot to tell us about the addition of songwriter Kara DioGuardi as the fourth judge on American Idol.
The Straight Up singer wanted to clarify her reaction to the news.
Abdul tells us her only concern is with how the Idol viewers will react, but that she’s thrilled with the addition of Kara D.
Paula tells us, exclusively, “This is gonna be a good thing. I’m really thrilled! For me, I’m excited as can be. I think this time around, it’s gonna work adding a new judge. A lot of surprises are in store that are gonna make it more exciting to watch the show.”
As for Kara D, Abdul says she knows her very well.
“I met Kara literally on the streets of New York, in 1999, in front of the Brooklyn Diner,” Paula tells us.
The two struck up a friendship and Abdul convinced the then-struggling songwriter to quit her job at Billboard magazine, she tells us, and convinced her to move to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams.
“I was an instant fan of hers,” says Paula. “I moved her out to L.A. to live with me. I introduced her to music publishers. Kara and I wrote Spinning Around for Kylie Minogue when we were living together.”
Paula tells us she brought up Kara D to the Idol producers before. The songwriter is friends with A.I. head honcho Simon Fuller and she’s written songs for many Idol finalists before.
“I’ve been talking about her for years,” Abdul tells us. “I hope the audience gets excited and accepts it. Sometimes its been hard when we’ve had four judges in the past. They always wanted four judges since the beginning. It’ll be good to have two girls, and two guys. Kara’s like a sister to me.“
And there you have it!
It’s a big ol’ lovefest, but….
They’ll probably end up hating each other before the season’s over!!!
Can’t wait!

ANOTHER American Idol contestant is set to hit the Great White Way.
Long-haired rocker Ace Young will be joining the cast of Grease on September 9th.
He’s taking on the role of Kenickie.
Hey, at least there’s somewhere for the Idol-ers to go!

Can you smell the desperation????
Judging isn’t the only thing American Idol producers have tinkered with.
Sources say we’re going to sell less of the crap auditions in the early rounds too.
But, we loved seeing the bad singers and people falling on their faces!
The audition episodes have supposedly become “too repetitive”.
Instead, y’all will spend more time with the contestants once they arrive in Hollywood.
An insider is quoted as saying, “The strength of the show is that the audience wants to meet those 20 contestants. So we’ll spend more time with them.”
Also, with the departure of long-time show runner Nigel Lythgoe the music featured in the show will supposedly be more ‘updated’.
A Fox insider says, “At one point, we had Neil Diamond on, and Andrew Lloyd Webber and Dolly Parton. Nigel wanted to be old school. But the show needs younger music.”
Let’s see if all these changes will help the show goose some ratings!

As we announced earlier this day, American Idol is adding a fourth judge to the show when it kicks off next year - songwriter Kara DioGuardi.
Of all the judges, the one that should be the most concerned about this new addition is Paula Abdul.
And she is!
Loopy Paula was on the John Jay & Rich radio show in Arizona this morning and, of course, she talked about the changed on Idol.
Needless to state, she’s less than thrilled!!!!
Check out Abdul’s comments on the addition of Kara D (below).

That sound you hear is millions of broken hearts worldwide!
Infamous American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar recently revealed in an interview that he’s dating….a girl:
Q:Girlfriend?
A: Ummmm, yes. She is supportive and understands that I am not always going to be in the same state as her. She stands behind me. She is in school and when she finishes we’ll see where it goes.
This news caught us a little off guard!
We wonder who the lucky “lady” is.
Anyone know?

He may have ‘conveniantly’ been photographed making out with a girl in public this past weekend but…
Behind closed doors, fagulous Idol contestant David Hernandez was having a gay ol’ time with these power homos.
Orgy!
Original post by Perez Hilton

Who is he trying to fool????
David Rodriguez pretended to get his hetero on this past weekend.
The homolicious former stripper and bartender at gay clubs, most recently seen on American Idol this past season, started macking on some desperate blonde whore in San Diego during the holiday.
Yes, a female.
The girl is allegedly a famewhore that is one of the briefcase chicks on Deal or No Deal.
But he’s not even really famous!
The two made out openly in public, and they probably even leaked us these pics themselves.
Desperate - and totally fake. Just how we like it!

A musicians union has filed a federal lawsuit against the producers of American Idol claiming musicians were underpaid because the show’s live music was re-recorded for reruns, according to new reports.
Idol makes soooooo much money!
Why are they trying to be cheapy Mimi?????
The lawsuit alleges that the contract for the musicians working for the show says that they should be paid royalties for rebroadcasts of the show.
The producers are required to pay 75 percent of scale to musicians who appear in the original show and rehearsals, plus 10 percent of that pay to a union pension fund, with decreasing percentages for each rebroadcast, according to court papers.
In 2007, the producers started cutting out the show’s soundtrack and using different musicians to re-record new music for the past-season highlights show American Idol Rewind, the lawsuit said.
The court papers say the musicians’ union was not informed of the recording.
Phone messages left Thursday night with Idols reps weren’t returned.
Their lawyers probably told them to keep their mouths shut!

The downwards trend is over!
Though ratings for American Idol have been much lower this year, compared to previous seasons, last night’s finale was up 4% from last year’s finale.
A whopping 30.6 million people tuned in Wednesday night.
Still, it’s not all good news for Idol.
Viewership for this year’s finale was down amongst the highly-coveted 18 to 49 year-olds.
And, last night’s season finale was down 16% from the 36.4 million viewers who watched the season finale two years ago.
