Oscar Buzzin’

Her personal life may have been a little messy lately, but Anne Hathaway is kicking some professional ass!

Her performance in Rachel Getting Married, which premiered this week at the Venice film fest, is generating early Oscar buzz for the actress!

In the family drama, Anne plays Kym, a recovering drug addict who checks out of rehab to attend her sister’s wedding.

“An award-worthy Anne Hathaway gives the story a clear central focus,” wrote the Hollywood Reporter, while rival trade publication Variety called her “fragile, angry, superb.”

Dayum! Both industry rags like!

We can’t wait to see her in the movie!

Thank our lucky stars!

As you probably recall, the 65th Annual Golden Globes were canceled earlier this year due to the never-ending writers’ strike.

This came as a devastating blow to many, especially celbutard extraordinaire Rumer Willis.

Potato Head was set to play the role of Miss Golden Globe at the annual ceremony.

And, though the awards were canceled, it was nice to see Willis still made her way to the free gifting suites.

Well, it seems like Rumer is going to get her second chance at mediocre fame.

It’s been confirmed that she will get the opportunity to be the Miss Golden Globe in the upcoming Golden Globe Awards.

The main question is, does anyone really care to see Rumer????

Gray’s Anatomy star Chandra Wilson spoke out about the Emmy bruhaha that surrounded co-star Katherine Heigl and her decision not to put her name into consideration for an award this year.

Says Wilson:

“All actors have to do that exactly same thing every year. The public at large doesn’t understand it’s not about your body of works. It can’t be something in the middle. You can have a great seasonal arc, but if you don’t have that show that’s your show, then it’s not the right thing for the category. It was amazing to me the way it got blown out of proportion. Some years I submit, some years I don’t.”

Does this change your mind about Heigl?

Ingrate or not?

It’s about time.

After broadcasting from Las Vegas last year and NYC the year before that, the MTV Video Music Awards are coming to Hollywood this time around.

Now we don’t have to travel anywhere!

The awards, which will mark its 25th anniversary, will air on Sunday, September 7th.

This year, they’ll be presenting awards from sound stages, city streets, and even rooftops.

In other words: they’re trying to “mix it up” in an effort to goose ratings.

MTV will also also be counting votes from users on the web to help decide the nominees.

President of MTV Networks Music Group, Van Toffler, stated in a statement, “With Paramount Pictures as the ideal setting, the glamour and musical heritage of L.A. are sure to be catalysts for creating explosive pop culture moments that the VMAs are known for.”

This year might be a bit tough to follow after all the drama that went down last year!

There was the Kid Rock and Tommy Lee bitch fight that took place.

Kanye West threw a diva attack infront of the crew and media after he lost all five of the categories for which he was nominated. He vowed never to return.

Wonder if we’ll see him this year????

Lindsay Lohan chose not to enter the Emmy race for her Ugly Betty guest stint.

But, unlike Heigl she didn’t slam writers or a TV show.

La Lohan’s rep said she didn’t submit herself for contention in the guest race because “the appearance was brief. We made a decision to wait.”

True, true. It was short!

Word is that Mary-Kate Olsen put herself up for her guest appearance on Weeds. We didn’t see MKO do her thing.

Deserved or not?

AND, our favorite Vanity Fair cover girl Miley Cyrus has thrown her hat into the ring for best lead actress in a comedy series.

Say what, right?

Hannah Montana going up against the Tina Feys of the world? Ha ha!!

We never thought we’d say this…but, Miley. You should’ve been more like Lindsay. Wait ’til the right time!

The folks at Grey’s Anatomy are pissed off about Katherine Heigl’s Emmy brouhaha!

An insider tells Entertainment Weekly, “The show bent over backwards to accommodate her film schedule, and then she criticizes the show for lack of material? It’s an ungrateful slap in the face to the very writers responsible for her Emmy win in the first place.”

Bitter relationships aren’t productive.

No one is ever happy!

Why don’t they just part ways?

Heigl obviously wants to leave the show! Ingrate!

An actor that doesn’t want an award???

Shocking!!!

The LA Times states that when Grey’s Anatomy’s Katherine Heigl was asked why her name is not on the Television academy’s list of Emmy contenders, she issued this statement:

I’m truly grateful for the honor that the Academy bestowed upon me last year. I didn’t feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the Academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention. In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials.

Some have stated that Heigl’s right on — her Grey’s material did suck this year.

We don’t watch the show. We wanna know…is she right and was this an ‘honorable’ thing for her to do cuz it leaves the field open to more ‘deserving’ actresses?

But, if she did have shitty material, was it right for her to call out the writers and show suits like she did?

Another theory is that she just forgot to submit her name for Emmy contention and she didn’t want to admit it.

Does she think she’s above the Emmys????

What do U think?

We mentioned yesterday that Oprah Winfrey’s ratings and magazine readership is sliding and that Ellen is hot on her tail for the top chat spot.

Well, there’s more to take into account!

Looks like O’s Emmy nominations were on the decline this year, too.

Oprah nabbed three nominations — all technical noms (lighting, sound, video control).

Ellen, on the other hand, received eight noms, including nominations for Best Talk Show Host and Outstanding Talk Show.

Ellen is the new queen of chat!

Yes, she really is wearing a hair clip with the name “Blake” on it.

Gag us with Pete Doherty’s dirty fingers!!!!!

Amy Winehouse may be cracked out, but she’s still sweeping up awards.

Wino walked away with the award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for Love is a Losing Game at the 53rd Ivor Novello Awards on Thursday in London.

Hosted by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, the Ivors celebrate excellence in songwriting.

In true Wino style, she arrived too late to collect her award, so her dad (Mitch pictured above with Wino mom Janis) had to accept it on her behalf.

“She’s sorry she can’t be here but she sends her love,” dad of Wino said. “She is getting better and she’d like to send her love to everyone at the Ivors who first recognized her talent.”

Wino eventually showed up!

Two of our dear friends took home honors as well. Mika was named Best Songwriter at the ceremony and Diane Warren received a special international award.

Congrats!!

Hypocrite!

kennychesney.jpg

On Sunday night, Kenny Chesney criticized the Academy of Country Music Awards (despite his win) for allowing fans to vote for the Entertainer of the Year award.

Chesney told reporters backstage, “I don’t think it’s right that they pick the one award that means the most, that all the artists sacrifice the most for.”

According to reports, Chesney made clear Sunday night that his criticism was an industry complaint about the process for one award — not a dig at his fans or at the awards show overall.

It was the first time in the show’s 43 years that the top prize was decided by a fan vote.

BUT, it’s been revealed that Chesney played along with the industry and prodded his fans to pick him for the win!!!

Chesney’s MySpace page still carried a large banner Monday urging fans to “bring it home for KC,” with links to the academy’s online page and messages from fans lower on the page.

Kinda hypocritical, dontcha think?

Congrats!

vanhansis2.jpg

Our future husband, actor Van Hansis, has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy for his portrayal of Luke Snyder on As the World Turns.

Luke and Noah rule!

The crazy conservatives may have their panties in a bunch that there is a storyline involving an openly gay couple - that kiss! - on daytime TV, but it’s nice to see that Emmy voters don’t care.

Forget the hate. Appreciate!

We hope Van walks away with a statue!

We Need To Know

academy_award_poster__opt11__opt.jpg

The Oscars are putting pressure on the Writers Guild to give them an answer.

Are they going to boycott the show or not?

“We’re running out of time,” says the president of the Academy.

The talks between the writers and the big media moguls appear to be reaching a resolution, but the Oscars are right around the corner!

“I’m reaching out in a measured way,” says the Academy Prez. “We’re feeling great that (WGA-AMPTP) negotiations seem to have reached the stage where they’re concluding. I’m a filmmaker and I want everybody back working.”

So far, no words from the WGA.

It’d be a shame if the Oscars were cancelled.
